Sunday's Seven

1. Poolside - so the pool opened on Friday and I was beyond excited! If you need me for the next 3 months, this is where you can find me - per doctors orders, of course!

2. 3 day weekend - really glad this is a 3 day weekend! Even though my husband will be golfing for most of it, I always look forward to a long weekend and hope to relax to the max.

3. Ice Pop - so you know those ice pops that you buy unfrozen and pop in the freezer and eat like 10 of? Well if you were never to freeze the lemon lime one, that is what the drink tasted like for my glucose test. Didn't really taste that bad - just super sugary! Got the results back and no gestational diabetes - yay!

4. Nursery - this will probably be on Sunday's Seven for a while, but we made more progress! The crib is finally in the room and all set up. I bought a couple new pieces for the room and tried to buy a dresser/changing table on Craigslist but it was an epic fail! Still too irritated to talk about!

5. Couples Connect - last Tuesday we finished up our last Couples Connect group at church. We met every other Tuesday and discussed the book, Godchicks and the Men They Love. I highly recommend it - whether you are single, married or in between! Go buy it here.  There is a 2 pager at the end of each chapter "Just for the Guys" so it's an easy read for them too! It's just filled with some great, practical wisdom!

6. Daddio - I was told this week that they (this person) thinks KC is going to be a great dad. I won't go into the whole story, but it was just very nice to hear. It is so crazy to think we are going to have a little baby girl in a few months. It was very encouraging to hear this man, who has 3 children, tell me that. Not that I had any doubt in my mind that he wouldn't be, but it was very encouraging.

7. Miles - Mr. Miles Crew will be making the trek to Kansas City this week and I could just scream, I am so excited. Oh and his parents have to come with him - but whatever - MILES IS COMING!!! HOORAY! Get ready to be inundated with lots of pictures! :)

Have a great weekend and a fabulous week!!

Sunday's Seven

1. Aunt of the Year - So my sweet nephew was born on Wednesday, May 9. I am so very grateful that I got to be there. He is absolutely perfect and I am just obsessed with him - even 1,000+ miles away! I am totally going for the "Aunt of the Year Award" which I think I am a shoe in - being that I am his ONLY aunt right now :) Here he is with his little fingers wrapped around mine!!
Don't worry - there will be plenty more pictures to come!!

2. Baby Shower - My first baby shower is today and I am beyond excited!! Two of my best friends from high school (maybe a little before) are throwing it and I have no idea what to expect! Being the crazy party planner that I am, it feels so weird to be going to a party for ME, well for baby A, and have no control!! After the shower, I will post pics, because I know it is going to be fabulous!

3. Baby Clothes - I have a clothes problem. I can't help it. And now, Baby A has a clothes problem! It is so hard not to buy her things every now and then (maybe daily). It is all just so cute! When I was in Seattle, Lauren Alexandra (one of my favorite baby boutiques) was having a "Flash Sale" where everything in the store was 50% for two hours. So I text my sweet husband to ask him to go up and pick her out an outfit.....several hours later, I got the picture of the receipt and this photo:
Spoiled much?!

4. Nursery - When I came home from Seattle, my crib had been delivered!! It was so fun to come home and see it all put together! However, they delivered it fully assembled and it won't fit in the doorway - so once it gets put in the nursery, I will post pics. So excited that the nursery is coming together!

5. Kick boxer - I will probably say this every week, but it NEVER gets old feeling my baby move. It is the coolest thing ever! I am convinced she is a little kick boxer though, because when she is awake, the girl is active!

6. Doctor - I went to the doctor this week and it is so funny how much I look forward to going to my appointments. I had a long list of questions this time and my very sweet doctor was so patient with answering all of them. I am convinced that I have the best doctor ever. Seriously, I couldn't have found a better doc and even though he probably thinks I am crazy sometimes, he handles it very well.

7. Just Keep Swimming - I won't bore or gross you out with all of my pregnancy "side effects" but there are a few. Two of them (that aren't that weird) are tailbone pain and a pain in my middle back, when I sit too long. The flight to and from Seattle was pretty brutal because of these pains. So when discussing them with my doctor, he told me to get a massage and the best one yet....GO TO THE POOL!! He said swimming or just being in the water, is one of the best things I can do for my bones and joints. Now those are doctors orders that I can listen to!! So the pool opens on Friday and you can guess where I will be!

Sunday's Seven

So in honor of Mother's Day, today, my Sunday's Seven will be dedicated to my Momma.
1. LGLP - With all that my mom has taught me over the years, the number one message she taught was to "Love God and Love People". I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly within the church over the years. I have probably about 63849526 reasons why I should have walked away from the local church and become a bitter, hardened person, but my mom's goal was to not let that happen. Sure, there have been plenty of times where I've been mad, angry, sad, hurt and on and on, but ultimately, people are people. Life isn't fair and we all mess us. But when we love God, it makes it very easy to love people. Do we have to agree with everyone? No way. Do we have to be friends with everyone? Of course not. But we are called to love. Although I am not always great at this, I am very grateful that my mom instilled this principle in me and I hope to pass it on to my children.

2. Fashion 101 - Love God, Love People and Love Clothes! Ok, she didn't exactly teach us that, per say. But she did teach us how to shop! The women can drink shop most people under the table! :) From the time I was a little girl, I can remember her shopping and taking my brother and I with her. In fact, whenever we had a snow day or a day off school, we went to Oak Park Mall. Fashion was something that her great grandmother instilled in her and she passed it on to us. She also taught us that clothes and material things do not define us. And it wasn't about spending a ton of money or wearing designers, but she did teach us what went well together. And that it was ok to want to look nice and to find our own style. And not to let it get to us if people gave us a hard time about how we dressed. "Be who you are" she would say and "kill them with kindness". She also loves to shop for others. Gifts is her love language and she loves to give them, just as much as she loves to receive them. I was recently talking to a friend who made the comment, "I don't know of anyone who is a better dresser than you", to which I replied, "Oh my mom is for sure" and there was a long pause and she said, "Oh....that's probably true!" haha And I am ok with that! The woman can dress like no other! So yes, she created two monsters with my brother and I, but I speak for both of us when I say...Thanks Mom!! (Although I'm sure our spouses don't always feel the same gratitude :)

3. Fear 101 - Of all the things that my mom is, one thing she is not is fearful. The woman has the gift of faith. She just doesn't even let her mind go to the place of worry and fear. Not sure how she does it, but it's one thing, as a mom, that I want to possess - faith, not fear. I know many parents who parent out of fear and it is one thing I want to strive not to do.

4. Motherhood 101 - There are a lot of people who say that they have the "best mom in the world", but unfortunately, that's the title that my mom holds. Was she perfect? No. (sorry mom) But she was the most loving mom to my brother and I. She was also the most strict. Whoa, she was intense. But she had a way of doing it with love. She would say things like "I love you and I want others to love you" and I never knew what that meant until the last couple years. I also heard her give other parents advice that "You have to tighten the reigns when they are younger, so you can loosen them later"...that is also great wisdom that I hope to remember as I raise Baby A. Needless to say, she did a great job "training" us and even though there were years that we would "colorfully disagree", I can now say that I am so grateful that she stood her ground.

5. Marriage 101 - My parents will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in two days. Yeah, 30 years...whoa! That should be celebrated big time, in this day and age. Because my parents have similar (almost exactly the same) personality, there have been some ups and downs. But it has always been entertaining. Divorce has never been an option for them and I actually never once heard "the D word" in our house, growing up. So I never once doubted their marriage or feared that they would separate. Even when they wouldn't see "eye to eye" on things, I was never afraid. They taught me that going to counseling was a good thing and very necessary. They taught me that date nights were essential. No matter how much we meant to them and how much they loved us, they were husband and wife before they were parents. They taught me that marriage was hard work but so very worth it and that what you put into it, is what you will get out of it. My mom taught me to respect and honor my husband, to be loving and patient. Oh and to not take things too seriously. To have fun and prefer one another. They have lived out a great example of marriage and I hope that one day, my children can say the same about KC and I.

6. Friendship 101 - One thing I've learned over the years is that good friends are hard to come by. Being a pastors kid, you see a lot of people come and go, in and out of your life. My mom has had hundreds of "friends" over the years, but there are only a couple that have remained by her side, through the ups and downs. I have seen many many people hurt and take advantage of her and I hate it. But the crazy thing is, she has never changed who she is. And although I know it has hurt her, she's never been "the victim" and has walked through the changing seasons with such grace. Is it disappointing when people choose to walk out of your life, out of relationships that have lasted for years? Absolutely it is. But she taught me that we can't be responsible for others actions, only ours. "When people make a judgement or start living in an offense, we are called to love. Even if we don't agree, be the bigger person." That is some of the best advice she has given me. Even when I want justification or to punch them in the face :), I know that isn't the solution. All because my mom has shown me, through her actions, that it is the right thing to do. And now, at age 25, I can say that my mom is one of my best friends. It definitely hasn't always been that way, but I'm sure glad it is now.

7. Vacation 101 - Another thing that my mom loves to do is travel. From the time I can remember, we took family vacations. She told my dad early on that " family vacations were a priority" so he would budget for it and put money back every month so that we could take a yearly family vacation. Those vacations are some of my favorite memories and I am so grateful for them. Although it seems silly to some or may seem like a no-brainer to others, it is yet another thing that I want to pass on to my children.

I could have come up with more than seven, but those are the ones that stand out the most.

Mom, thank you for all of the life lessons you have taught me and are continuing to teach me. I love you dearly!! Happy Mother's Day!!

<3,
Lovey/Dollie
(two names she has always called me)

Sunday's Seven

So I want to start a new weekly post, entitled Sunday's Seven. I will post 7 things that have gone on during the past week or just things that are on my mind.

1. Seattle - I've been waiting for this trip for quite a while now and it is here!! And I am there! I got to see Jonathan a couple months ago when he came back for an interview but haven't seen the SIL since Christmas - which is way too long!

2. Baby O - although I have about 9 nieces/nephews on the husbands side, Baby O will be my very first nephew on my side! I have been waiting to be an aunt for so long and am so excited to be in his life from day 1! And even more than that, I can't wait to see J & C become parents. I'm sure I will cry myself silly when I first see Jonathan hold him for the first time. And don't worry, I will have my camera to document that moment!!

3. Moving baby - So I felt Baby C kick for the first time during week 22...but wasn't totally sure until week 23 that it was for sure movement. Now I can identify it very clearly. I wasn't sure how long it would be until KC would be able to feel. Every time she would start to move, I would have him out his hand on my belly and of course, she would stop. Very ornery! So we were laying in bed the other day and his hand was on my belly and he goes, "oh my gosh, I felt her!!!" I seriously couldn't stop smiling. Feeling her move is quite possible one of the coolest things ever!!

4. Meeting baby - so I think all of the time about meeting our baby girl. I wonder what she will look like, how much hair she will have, will she have dark eyes like her dad or maybe get my baby blues?! I wonder if she will like us (ha!) or if she will like her big brother and sister (Bentley and Chloe)? Lots and lots of things go through my head about my baby and I can't help but pray for her every day. I pray most of all that she is healthy and that we will be the best parents to her, that we possible can be.

5. My diaper bag - You might remember my blog post about my diaper bag here. I have a thing about diaper bags (I love them) and I have a very strong opinion about them. The pockets, the contents, the style – its all so fun! Call me crazy! So I have had mine for a while but cant help look at other ones all of the time!! (I sure hope KC isn't reading this!) But he did inform me that he wants his own bag which is fine by me because I sure don't want mine getting all messed up!! :) I seriously want to go buy diapers, wipes, toys and all of the other stuff that goes in them, like yesterday! Maybe a little early, I know!! I'm not really going to do it but you bet I will before too long!! (Crazy person, table for one! :)

6. The husband (KC) - I have felt very grateful for him lately because I know I can be a lot to deal with at times (hard to believe, isn't it?!) ESPECIALLY while pregnant! The emotions are crazy. I don't even know what I want half the time, making it very hard impossible for him to know what I want! But I can't think of a more perfect person to be on this journey with!! We were driving the other day and a song came on the radio to which I knew every word so I started belting it out. And if you know me at all, you know I sing almost as good as Mariah Carey (or something like that). So, he just shook his head and tried not to smile. I grabbed his hand and told him that I was so glad that I was in his life to provide him great entertainment! Never a dull moment! He's pretty lucky, huh?? :)

7. Dead Ginger - so I got a new car not too long ago and named her Ginger. Just for the very reason that she is red. Duh! So I was about 30 minutes away from home last week when all of the sudden Ginger started acting funny and I couldn't accelerate. I was on a super busy street and started to panic. People were honking and I just wanted to get out of the way! I was able to coast down a side street and then she just died. It started smoking under the hood and the whole shebang! Oh and it was a balmy 85 degrees out! Thankfully there was a car shop not too far away so I left Ginger in the middle of the road and walked to the mechanic. So try to imagine this blonde, pregnant, pissed girl, in heels! walks into the shop and says: my car is in the middle of the road, about to get hit any second and I have no idea what is wrong! So there I am- stranded, hot as heck, starving and not a happy camper! It was quite the site! So I will sum up the rest of the story - this certain car place tried to screw me and overcharge me about $300 so a saint of a friend came to get me and the car got towed somewhere else to get fixed. So the point of this was really to say...I am so very very grateful for friends who will drop whatever they are doing to come to my rescue! Thanks again LJ!!

Can't wait to see what adventures are ahead of me this week!! Hopefully the only exciting thing that happens is baby O making his appearance in the world!

Cookie Monster

So this whole "being pregnant" thing is awesome. Yes, I know that my tune has changed a little from January-March but now that I am over the hump of sickness, I am very much enjoying myself. And maybe a little too much.

To be honest, I have been eating whatever the heck I want. I am trying to maintain a routine of working out about 3 days a week...just walking and interval weight training, but hey, it's better than nothing. But I think the Sonic cheeseburgers, peanut butter M&M's and fresh baked cookies are getting the best of me. The weight is starting to pile on. (This is one reason you won't hear me talk bad about Jessica Simpson and her weight gain because we are the same height and I still have a ways to go!!)

I was told in the past two weeks the following things:
"Your face is looking very full"
"Oh wow...your legs are getting bigger"
"Your body has completely changed shape"

Awesome, right?! It's a good thing I have thick skin (no pun intended) and a sense of humor!!

But back to the fresh baked cookies, this is one thing that I have been eating like a crazy person! For about one week straight, I was eating cookies and milk every.single.night!! Which means I was playing Betty Crocker just about every other day! Here is one pic I took of some oatmeal cookies that I made. My SIL makes these soooo much better than I do but they were delish!!

(Maybe she will have some of these ready for me when I arrive in Seattle! ;)

So yes, my mom and I leave today for Seattle to see my bro and SIL and we were thinking that baby O was going to be here by now...but no such luck :/ Maybe he is waiting for us to get there, which does make him quite the gentleman already! I am so looking forward to seeing J, C and of course Walter!!

And speaking of adorable pups, check out my two crazy fur babies...

I know you're thinking..."wow, you really need a life", but c'mon, how cute are they? I went a little crazy and bought all these hats for Baby O and Baby C so I just had to try them on! They were pretty much over it after the first round of the fashion show so I didn't torture them any longer.
This was all going down while Pops (Baby C's grandpa) was painting her nursery.

Didn't he do a great job?! So grateful for him!!

And if you follow me on Pinterest, then you know that Baby A has her own board for her nursery. I've ordered the crib, rug, bedding and have made some other purchases, so I will post pictures as the room comes together!

Just for some clarification, Baby C and Baby A are the same person :) The name is not a secret...just not quite putting it out on the blog or social media but feel free to email, text or just ask me if you want to know the name!!

Here is a sneak peek at her shoe collection. Yes, she will wear other colors other than pink...this is just a start.

Ok that's all I've got for now. Have a great weekend everyone! Happy Cinco De Mayo!!
