I will "TRI" my best

So let me start off by telling you a little story about this crazy friend I have and our conversation together.

Friend:"You should sign up and do the Women's Triathlon in Smithville with me!!"
Me: "Oh, that sounds like fun, I will think about it" (while I rolled my eyes and laughed)
Friend: "You can totally do it. C'mon, it will be fun and it is right by my birthday!!"
Me: "Ok, well I will get back to you"......
*months go by, I don't ever bring it up...even though she does....ALL THE TIME!!

So she emails saying that it might sell out and to hurry up and sign up! Ok well the race is in JULY and this was February. I thought I had PLENTY of time. Well, I was out of town and just thought, Oh I will sign up when I get back - registration had only been up like 10 days. The day I went to sign up, it was...get, ready for it..... SOLD OUT!!! I was half relieved and half bummed. Just to give it ONE more try, I e-mail the director, ask if they will be opening up any more spots and to please put me on the waiting list. Why was I torturing myself?! I have no clue. The director responds and basically says, "Sorry, no soup for you". Ok, so not exactly but you get the idea. Once again, I am half ok with it and half mad at myself for not signing up earlier.

A couple months go by and I get an e-mail from Sara, the race director....they had an open spot for me!!! YAY!!! I mean, NOOOO!!! I had BOTH reactions. Then I thought, what the heck, it is a sign, I should just do it. But wait - I don't have a bike. I have no clue what to do. What do I wear? I don't love swimming in lakes. Do I have to wear a swim cap? (yes, I thought that.) Will anyone come watch me? Will I get kicked in the face when swimming? Will I want to be training in the hot summer when I could be laying at the pool? ALL of these things are quickly consuming me when I reply to the e-mail with: YES!!! Here is my info, SIGN ME UP!!! I guess, go big or go home, right?!

I really couldn't decide if I was going to purchase a bike or not because, what if I don't love it?! I asked around and low and behold, my best friend who now lives in Hawaii (P.S. PLEASE MOVE HOME!! :) has an extra bike here because it was going to cost too much to ship to paradise. I go and pick it up tomorrow and am so excited, I could scream!! I will be going straight to the bike store, having it fitted for me and going for a ride!! I think I am so excited because it will be different than just running and running and running, like I have done in the past. I will be sure and post a pic of my new ride.

It is the Win for KC Women's Tri. It's a 500 meter swim, 10 mile bike and 5k run. Piece of cake, right?! If you came and cheered me (but you can't make fun of my swim cap!!), I would be forever grateful and would probably even buy you a post-race mimosa!!! :)

Words

I love words.

Hoppy Easter

Today was Easter and man, was it a good day. I got to go to church with some of the greatest people ever, have brunch with mi familia, take a nap (score!!) and saw a movie with some great friends and family. All in all, a wonderful day.

A friend of mine put this on her FB page today and it was just too good not to share! Take a few minutes and watch:

I also love this video that 272369 of my friends posted today on their FB. It is totally worth sharing though:

Here are a few pics of the fam at brunch:

Glamping

So my SIL Christie (stop by her blog and tell her hello) got me hooked on decor/fashion blogs. Really, the only way I have time to look at blogs is if they come straight to my e-mail. So I now have like 10 blogs who, when they update it, come straight to my e-mail. I love that I can do that! Anyways, it is always fantastic inspiration. So one day, when I have a money tree I can decorate my dream home just the way I want to :)
*Sidenote: I guess I will have to run in by my husband, huh?! Ehh, minor details! We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

One of the blogs I "follow" is Elements of Style. Their latest post was entitled Glamorous Glamping. Check out these pictures:

I mean, seriously?!? What's not to love??? If you know me at all, you know I wouldn't be considered a "camper" but let me just tell ya....I could TOTALLY camp in these conditions!!

Much more to come on "decor". It's sort of my obsession right now.

sfyerufkuiohkgkdrs

Don't understand my title?? Yeah, I don't either. That's the point. That's what is going on in my mind. If you have ever read any of my blog posts you know that I struggle with finding time to write blogs. I come up with new blog posts on a daily, sometimes hourly basis, but I never do anything with them. So all that to say, I am blogging today but can't tell you when my next post will be!

So to fill you in on what I have been doing since we last "spoke".....

I visited my brother and sister(in law) in Seattle. They moved there last August and may I just say, I am SOOO ready for them to move back. They are probably our best friends and doing life without them just sucks! My mom went with me and we had an absolutely great time! And as you might know, Nordstrom is headquartered there so the shopping was superb!! We went to Nordies Rack like 6 times...what's not to love?! But besides the shopping, the company was the best part. Here are a few pics of us enjoying Seattle - and I will say, we had great weather!!

Aren't they the cutest?!
Best big brother ever
(I can say that now that we are past the high school days :)
Apparently, she had some business to take care of.
Not going to lie, my family is pretty much awesome.
He has a hard life!!
Presh
Beautiful scenery - and I did have a coffee. I was in Seattle after all!
(And this was our first day here and I was all yuck from flying all day...don't judge!)
I look older than him....right?!
Two of my favorite ladies.
Thank you to the random person for taking our photo!
(I told you the shopping was fab)
I will say, he did gain a few lb's since I saw him last!!
Our last day - so sad :/
*the wind was a little crazy
Another shout out to the rando guy who took our pic
- all while a bird tried to steal his lunch :(

I also went to Dallas with a few ladies for a women's conference. We had a great time. We laughed, we cried, we laughed, we ate, we laughed, we drank, we laughed, we shopped, we.....well you get the idea!! There were some phenomenal speakers there, such as Christine Caine, Charlotte Gambill, Priscilla Shirer, and the amazing T.D. Jakes. I took some great notes if you are interested, let me know and I will pass them along. I gained some great insight and am so thankful for women I can be real with. Here are a few photos from our trip. I am waiting on one of the girls to send me her pics cause hers turned out better but oh well....
First night at the conference.
This is probably the best sangria I have ever had! Yummo.
*but note to self, do NOT take benadryl with a sangria. No bueno!

Holy blurry! Stayed tuned for the updated/non blurry one.
 Love this gal.
Love her even more for taking me to this great conference :)
 Sisters :)
Love all of these wonderful gals who speak so much into my life.

Let's see, what else have I done lately?? Hmmm... Well I celebrated my Dad's Bday:
Love this man.
The Mr. and I ran in the Trolley Run:
This is before the race
And after. The good news: we didn't die!!
I had taken 11 weeks off and when I say "taken 11 weeks off", I mean,
I DIDN'T RUN ONCE IN 11 WEEKS!!
Needless to say, we ran 4 days ago and I am still hurting :/
I am just so grateful that we ran together the whole time -
he could have easily taken off but he stayed with me.
Love him for that :)

I also went shopping for Chloe's Easter outfit :)
Don't worry - she will learn to love it :)

Well this blog post is now a novel so I won't bore you with anymore of my crazy exciting stories. But don't you worry....I.WILL.BE.BACK!!
